A Shooter In Disguise
Despite the many bells and whistles, The Wizards is pretty much a standard virtual reality wave shooter at heart. This isn't to say it's bad, however; those bells and whistles make the game pretty darned impressive. The graphics are stunning, for one thing. The setting is beautifully rendered in detail and gives a real feel of immersion. The combinations of spells you have at your disposal makes for interesting experimentation. Each spell feels unique, rather than just a different particle effect over the same action. You can also interact with the environment, which is not something you often see in VR shooters and is a nice touch. The different stages can be blown through in minutes, or you can explore a little and spend a lot of time there. And on the subject of content, the game is also professionally narrated, which is a very nice touch.
Stunning and Fun
The Wizards may be just another virtual reality wave shooter, but it's a great example of a virtual reality wave shooter. It would benefit from multiplayer, but if you're looking for a bit of fantasy in your VR experience, you can do a lot worse than this game.
